The SEC standings are currently crowded, with seven teams within three games of conference leader Arkansas in the standings, but that could change this weekend with six of those eight teams playing each other. Arkansas will get a tough test, as they travel to second place Auburn this weekend. The Razorbacks rebounded from a series loss to LSU two weeks ago with a sweep of Georgia last weekend and will look to build on that momentum. Auburn has stumbled a bit the last couple weeks, going 5-5 in their last 10 games, but the Tigers still have an impressive resume on the year with only one weekend series loss. Who ever wins this series could find themselves atop the standings at the end of the week. East division leader Kentucky will host LSU, who is currently playing at a very high level. The Tigers are coming off back-to-back series wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss and will look to make it three straight and climb up the standings. Kentucky took two of three from Missouri last weekend and beating LSU this weekend would be huge for Kentucky in terms of holding onto the SEC East lead. Should the Wildcats slip up, Florida and South Carolina are waiting in the wings. Two of the nations top teams in the early parts of this season, both Florida and South Carolina have struggled in SEC play and both are currently 8-7 in conference play. Florida has some big series wins in SEC play, beating both LSU and Vanderbilt, but also were swept by Auburn and lost a series to Tennessee. South Carolina started conference play 5-1, but have lot their last three series to Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State. The two teams will square off this weekend. While the series is huge for both teams, there might not be a team in the country in need of a series win more than South Carolina. The Gamecocks have Kentucky and LSU looming in their next two weekends, and if they lose a fourth straight series to Florida, South Carolina could be in real trouble.
