Conference tournaments are in the books and now all there is to do is wait for the field to be released. That wait will be a long one for a lot of teams, as this year’s bubble is very crowded. With teams like Iowa, Oklahoma State, Rice and Xavier stealing potential at large bids by winning their tournaments, teams that looked to be on solid ground a week ago now have their status up in the air. Of the teams on the bubble, a number of them come from the ACC and SEC. Auburn, Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas A&M looked like they would be representing the SEC in the field as of a couple days ago, while Miami and NC State looked to be in for the ACC. Now, it is likely that a couple of those teams will be on the outside looking in. South Carolina raised their profile the most out of that group with some big wins in the SEC Tournament, but it may not be enough with the bubble shrinking over the weekend. The bubble is about to burst for a number of teams with postseason dreams and their fate is now squarely in the hands of the selection committee.
