Last Eight In: Boston College, Georgia Tech, St. John’s, Western Kentucky, Purdue, Creighton, Texas, Tennessee
First Eight Out: UCF, Drexel, Rice, West Virginia, Bradley, Alabama, Georgia, Yale
Through Sunday, eight teams have punched their tickets to the NCAA Tournament and many of the major conference tournaments are well underway. So teams like Boston College, Georgia Tech and St. John’s, the last three teams in our field, are hanging on by a thread. Often times by this point the bubble will not change too much. However, this year there are still a ton of questions to be answered. Teams like James Madison, Drexel, Bradley, Western Kentucky, Old Dominion and Rice are all on the bubble. They will have the opportunity to clinch a tournament berth, but what will happen to WKU or ODU should Rice, for example, win the conference tournament? Will a loss for any of these teams spell the end of their tournament hopes? If so, that bodes well for those last teams in. But there are also teams like Central Michigan and Princeton, who look to have a bid locked up. If they lose, the bubble will get smaller.
