There were some top races to enjoy, plenty of dresses to take in and smiles all round as the Queen returned to the event that we all know she loves so dearly. Queen Anne Stakes
This is one of the most popular races at the festival and is always a great joy to watch on the opening day. This year the winning spot went to Detorri and Palace Pier, with the win securing Frankie Dettori his seventh successive win in the Queen Anne Stakes. In second place was Lope Y Fernandez and coming in third was Sir Busker. The pace of the race was slow, as Dettori commented on after the race, and this meant that he had to look to run strategically by staying on the wing. All the same, the race was exciting and exhilarating.
Duke of Cambridge Stakes
Day 2 saw Indie Angel taking the win in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes, and another winning position for Frankie Dettori. Having had a complication in her last race, trainer and rider were not confident that Indie Angel would win the race, but in the end she finished well and looked strong.
Royal Ascot Gold Cup
One of the most hotly anticipated races of the festival saw yet another win for the legendary Dettori. This time he was riding Stradivarius; a horse that already has a place in the hearts of many bettors and spectators. They pair finished strong and won the race by some distance.
Return of the Queen
Day 5 of the festival saw the Queen return to the festival after missing the vent last year for the first time in the living memory of many. Having gained a love of horses and horse racing from her father, King George VIth, the Queen enjoys racing and is always seen with a wide smile on her face at Royal Ascot. As patron of Royal Ascot the Queen is always welcomed by the crowd and it was good to see her supporting and enjoying the sport that she loves to dearly after the pandemic stopped her from attending last year.
