Wright State now has to move on after four dominating years of Loudon Love. The center led the Raiders to three straight conference regular season titles and averaged 16.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.9 assists during his senior campaign. He was the face of the program, but Coach Scott Nagy has a talented group of players returning. They are a young group, but they are also a group that can still find success in the Horizon League without Love.

Projection:
It is not like Wright State needs to find players to step up and turn into leaders. There are four sophomores on the roster who averaged between 9.7 and 15.8 points. And this group of sophomores can do everything the team needs them to do. Tanner Holden averaged 15.8 points per game and also ranked second on the team in rebounds with 7.3 and assists with 2.7 per game. Grant Basile, a third-year sophomore, is ready to take some of the headlines that went to Love over the last four years. The 6-9 forward boasted an impressive stat line of 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks. Most impressive though is that he shot 47.6 percent from beyond the arc and 61.7 percent from the floor. Tim Finke and Trey Calvin were the team’s most prolific outside shooters a season ago. Calvin also dished out 3.5 assists and spearheaded the defensive effort with 1.3 steals. Milwaukee transfer C.J. Wilbourn will add some much needed depth to the frontcourt. Clearly Love deserves a ton of credit for leading this program, but life after Love will not be bad. This team has scorers. They have a dynamic frontcourt player in Basile and a couple great rebounding guards in Holden and Finke. They will not be the sixth best rebounding team in the country again and the three-point shooting percentage may drop without the opposing defense immediately collapsing into the paint, but do not be surprised to see Wright State back atop the conference standings come March.
