Which College Players Will Breakout in 2021?
The new college season is upon us and there are many big names of the college world to look out for and enjoy as they continue their young careers. But what about those who aren’t quite household names yet?
Following a player before too many other people know about him is always a thrilling part of watching and enjoy football. It can also help those who place wagers on football, as they can identify the talent to follow very early. It is important to know how to read American odds when betting on football, so you can compare what you know with where the bookies rank each player.
The stars of the college game are favourites when it comes to the Heisman Trophy, but further down from those big names, here are some others who could breakout and gain a whole new fanbase this season.
Bijan Robinson
There will be a lot of NFL mock drafts coming out over the next few weeks and it is going to be fascinating to see where people rank Robinson. The chances are that Robinson will rise up these rankings, regardless of where they feature him, as he is expected to show us a lot this season.
In nine games as a freshman last year, Robinson ran for over 700 yards. He will have his sights on potentially doubling that this season, and you wouldn’t bet against him to do it. Impressively, he led the team with 14 plays that took him for 20 yards or more, showing that he is a long carrier of the ball, and can find gaps in the defensive lines that he faces.
Health will also hopefully be on his side this year, he was injured at the start of last season, and got better with every game he played. With a full run at the new campaign, assuming he stays injury free, expect big things from Bijan Robinson.
Jerrion Ealy
Another running back to look at is Jerrion Ealy from Ole Miss. His path to more involvement in games has been cleared thanks to the move of star receiver Elijah Moore, who is now in the NFL. Look for Ealy to be a real puzzle to contain, he can run with the ball and take part in the receiving game, and it will be no surprise to see him heavily used in both situations this season.
Last year we saw him score a rushing, receiving and return touchdown, he is incredibly versatile and should have a lot of opportunity to get the ball in his hands.
Charleston Rambo
The final player to look at is Miami receiver Charleston Rambo. He showed what he was capable of in the spring, and after a summer of strong work, he is expected to come back and do more. He’s landed in a great spot here and has the chance to be Miami’s first 1000 yard receiver since 2013, and should get plenty of chances to put yards on the board in this line up.
If you are looking for a receiver to emerge this season, Rambo could be the one.
