The Best-Ever Super Bowl Halftime Entertainment

There’s no getting away from the fact that the NFL Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. With Tottenham Hotspur players getting drawn in alongside millions of other fans, it’s an event that attracts billions of dollars in wagers. That leaves people in search of the best Super Bowl odds that they can find.

There’s more to Super Bowl Sunday than just the sporting action though. This is an event that has become just as famous for the off-pitch action as it provides some of the best halftime entertainment that you’ll ever see.

This year sees Rihanna making a comeback as she sets to dazzle over 100 million viewers. While we can be sure that she’ll more than deliver, here’s a look at the best acts that have appeared so far.

1) Prince - 2007

Prince (or the Artist Formerly Known as Prince) has to be number one when it comes to looking at Super Bowl performances. This is a singer that you’d never really associate with a brass marching band, but Super Bowl XLI proved that this made for a perfect combination.

As well as performing his own songs, there were also covers of those from greats such as Bob Dylan, Foo Fighter and Queen. Perhaps the biggest highlight here was the legendary guitar solo in Purple Rain.

2) Michael Jackson - 1993

While there will always be controversy that surrounds the late Michael Jackson, there’s no getting away from the fact that he was one of the world’s very best performers. He was an artist who could hold an audience for as long as he chose and you could always be sure of a truly magical show.

He certainly didn’t disappoint when he appeared at the 1993 Super Bowl. There were hits including “We are the World” as well as “Heal the World” and the addition of a choir made these songs truly amazing. Jackson’s performance was the first time that Super Bowl organisers had moved beyond the traditional marching band and he proved that this was definitely the right decision.

3) Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child - 2013

The presence of Beyoncé meant that the halftime entertainment in 2013 was amongst the best that has ever been seen. It wasn’t just a solo performance though. This saw the long-awaited reunion of Destiny’s Child.

The set included greatest hits such as “Bootylicious”, “Independent Women” and “Single Ladies”. These songs alone are enough for this performance to go down in history.

4) Janet Jackson - 2004

This performance is one of the most memorable of all time, but unfortunately, it’s not entirely for the right reasons. While the likes of Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock delivered world-class renditions, this was all overshadowed by what was to come with Janet Jackson.

While Jackson certainly had her moments and drove the crowd wild, it was the actions of Timberlake that made the 2004 Super Bowl go down in history. He somehow, accidentally, removed Jackson’s chest covering and the world had a moment of seeing her in all of her glory.
