Jamaal Franklin, Junior, Shooting Guard, San Diego State
Overview:
Jamaal Franklin has put up some big numbers during his collegiate career. As a sophomore in 2011-2012 he was asked to carry a bigger scoring load and he did not disappoint. Franklin averaged 17.4 points and 7.9 rebounds for San Diego State. As a freshman he barely played eight minutes per game.
Franklin will need to have another good season if leaving school early is a good idea. Usually a junior at this level has two good years of college ball under their belt. That is not the case with the 6-5 guard. But Franklin did prove last season that he can score and use his strength to hit the glass. It would help if he did it again.
Final Projection:
NBA teams will love Franklin’s toughness and ability to make tough shots. They may be tough shots, but Franklin almost always takes smart shots. Shot selection is rarely a problem. Franklin is not the best athlete around and, at 6-5, would be stuck at the shooting guard spot. However, he is not a great shooter; he is a scorer. With that said, every team in the NBA would love to have Franklin coming off of their bench and providing a huge offensive spark.
