Jose Altamirano MLS Draft Profile

Jose Altamirano, Senior, Midfielder, San Diego State

Overview:

Jose Altamirano had a solid season at the midfield position his freshman year at San Diego State, playing in all 18 games and starting in nine of them.  One goal and two assists gave the freshman just three points on the season.  After his debut, Altamirano went on to play for the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National team and returned back to the Aztecs a stronger performer.  In 2010 he played and started in all 19 games of the season netting in just one goal but recorded nine assists.  Altamirano was the man from the corner in 2010, kicking 64 from the corner helping him receive second-team All-PAC 10 and finishing the season with 11 points.

Altamirano dominated the corner in 2011 also, leading the team in corner kicks with 52.  He found the goal three times and logged three assists and started in all 19 matches of the season.

Final Projection:

Jose Altamirano is a threat from the corner, which will help the Aztecs in the 2012 season and help Jose to be on the 2013 draft list.  But a few more assists in 2012 will increase his chances of going early in the January draft
