Tavarres King NFL Draft Profile

Tavarres King NFL Draft Profile

Tavarres King, Senior, Wide Receiver, Georgia

Overview:

Tavarres King had a breakout season in his senior year.  He was a strong contributor last year, but he had his best yardage totals by far in 2012.  He did a great job picking up the slack for Malcolm Mitchell when he went down for part of the season with a knee injury.  His stellar game against Alabama in the SEC championship game proved that he can show up when the lights were brightest.  Though he did not score every game, he had at least one reception each week.  At 6’1” and 200 lbs. he has a good frame to take on NFL defenders.  He used 2012 to make a statement.

Final Projection:

King will most certainly not be as highly touted (or effective) as his former Georgia teammate, A.J. Green.  Green had elite size and speed and has solidified himself as one of the premier number one receivers in the NFL.  King projects out as more of a complementary piece.  His production leaves a little to be desired (20 touchdowns in four seasons), and sometimes he goes quiet.  His consistency needs work.  Teams can see what he did against Alabama and realize this guy can be a player.  He will make a roster at the next level, and should be drafted somewhere between the second and fourth round.
