Draymond Green, Senior, Power Forward, Michigan State
Overview:
By the end of his freshman campaign Draymond Green was beginning to turn into the solid all-around player he would be known for during the rest of his time at Michigan State. He only averaged 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds during the 2008-2009 season, but he ended the year strong. That led to higher expectations in 2009-2010 and Green did not disappoint. He started just three games, but Green led the Spartans with 7.7 rebounds per contest and added 9.9 points, 3.0 assists, 1.2 steals and nearly one block per game. As a result he was named the Sixth Man of the Year in the Big Ten and nationally by some sources.
As an upperclassman Green stepped into the strange position of a starter. Yet, that did not change his production as, once again, Green did everything for the Spartans, averaging 12.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks.
Final Projection:
Green has been developing his outside shot and as a junior connected on 36.6 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. The NBA arc may be a tad out of his range, but his ability to consistently knock down the 15 to 18 foot jumper makes him a dangerous offensive weapon. His 6-7, 230 pound frame will scare some teams away who think he should be a power forward. However, he is a bull in the paint and can handle playing the four spot in the NBA, but he also has all the skills necessary to be a solid small forward.
